Welcome to Indie Film Junction

Indie Film Junction | May 15, 2020
If you’re here, there’s a solid chance you’re a fan of independent film, a filmmaker, or some combination of the two. As people who tick both boxes, we are always looking to discover and support independent movies and learn the stories behind how they came to be.
Our articles will explore trends, production methodologies, and strategies that we or other filmmakers have applied (or attempted to) and their thoughts on them. There are no rules in filmmaking. What works for one doesn’t necessarily work for all, but it’s healthy to be exposed to different ways of thinking about and executing the things that generate the building blocks we compile to make the final, miraculous product: a movie.
We’re going to talk about successes, because it’s important to raise the community up and be supportive, despite the varying degree to which a particular film appeals to our own sensibilities. More importantly, we’re going to talk about failures, because that’s where the most knowledge and wisdom can be gleaned. We won’t hesitate to go there.
And all of this for what? Mainly, to raise awareness of films that don’t have the clout to be acknowledged by other publications, even those focused on independent content. We’re going to highlight the movies we love (and dive into the elements that make them resonate so strongly), and we’re not going to knock films we don’t connect with.
You may notice that comments are not enabled. That’s because this is a small scale operation (for now), and moderating discussions here is out of scope. We’ll be leveraging our twitter account to share content and engage readers, so please follow us there.
Indie Film Junction is a place to discover new filmmakers and movies while simultaneously demystifying the processes involved in creating films. To aid in that discovery, we’re offering movie profiles for completed, released features with all the basic metadata you’d expect, plus an optional section for the filmmaker(s) to summarize their intent and lessons learned.
Enough talking about what we’re going to do. Let’s get to it!
